Enugu leaders back Tinubu for 2027, praise federal-state partnership

Political leaders from Enugu State have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, following a high-level visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The delegation, led by Governor Peter Mbah, represented what they described as the collective voice of over seven million people in the state. It included prominent figures such as former Senate President Ken Nnamani, former governors Sullivan Chime and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, senior military officers, federal lawmakers, and other political and traditional leaders.

Governor Mbah used the visit to express appreciation for federal support to the state, linking recent development projects to improved cooperation with the federal government. He also made a clear political commitment ahead of 2027.
“We state boldly and without ambiguity that this relationship has earned our trust and support. On that basis, Your Excellency, we will stand proudly with you on election day in January 2027,” Mbah said.
President Bola Tinubu, in response, welcomed the endorsement and said his administration’s economic reforms were already producing visible results across the country. He emphasized that cooperation between federal and state governments was driving progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.

Tinubu also highlighted ongoing projects such as railway expansion and power sector reforms, saying they were central to long-term national development.
“The results you are outlining… are not abstract. They are the evidence that reform is working, that difficult decisions are yielding real outcomes and that Nigeria is moving forward,” the President said.
Former Senate President Ken Nnamani also praised the administration, noting that federal interventions had improved infrastructure in the South-East. He affirmed the delegation’s support for Tinubu’s re-election, saying the state had benefited significantly from his leadership and partnership with Enugu State.
