Enugu targets economic growth through infrastructure development — Mbah

Governor Peter Mbah has said his administration is targeting economic growth through massive infrastructure development across Enugu State.

Mbah stated this while inspecting key infrastructural projects over the weekend ahead of their scheduled inauguration in the coming weeks.

The projects inspected include the 40-kilometre Owo-Ubahu-Amankanu-Umualor-Neke-Ikem dual carriageway, the 14.5-kilometre Amechi Idodo-Oruku-Amagunze Road, the New Enugu Smart City and the Enugu International Hospital.

According to the governor, the projects form part of his administration’s broader economic development plan aimed at positioning Enugu as a leading destination for investment, business, tourism and quality living.

Mbah described the 40-kilometre dual carriageway as a strategic gateway linking the state to the North Central region, adding that it would improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities, particularly in agriculture.

“We are just 600 metres away from the main road that takes you to Obollo Afor. That simply means that this is a brand new gateway to the North,” Mbah stated.

He commended China Communications Construction Company for the pace and quality of work on the projects, noting that the contractor had deployed multiple work teams to ensure timely delivery.

Mbah also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rural road development, while the Enugu State Commissioner for Works, Engr Benjamin Okoh, disclosed that the New Enugu Smart City would feature integrated underground infrastructure for water, gas, sewage, power and internet services.
