Eruku attack: Ekiti Rep warns constituents, urges heightened vigilance
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has asked residents of border communities in Ekiti to stay alert and work closely with security agencies following the recent attack in Eruku, Kwara State.
He said the incident, which occurred in a town that shares close cultural and geographic ties with Ekiti, demands stronger cooperation with Governor Biodun Oyebanji and security chiefs.
Bamisile issued the warning in a statement released through his media office on Friday and circulated to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.
He said Eruku’s proximity to Ekiti makes vigilance crucial to preventing criminal elements from crossing into the state.
Particularly, he urged residents in border towns across Ekiti East and Emure councils to monitor unusual movement and report suspicious persons.
He said, “Omuo Ekiti shares a boundary with Kogi, while Emure Ekiti shares a boundary with Ondo State. These are my main concerns, because I want my people to be secure and safe wherever they may be.
“Their nearness to these two states makes it expedient for them to be more security conscious. They can’t afford to be lukewarm and allow infiltration before starting to rise to the current dreadful and frightening situation,” he warned.
Bamisile praised Governor Oyebanji for swiftly engaging security heads, saying collective vigilance remains key to keeping Ekiti safe.
