Former Governor Udom Emmanuel and Akwa Ibom’s Deputy Governor, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, recently led dignitaries to the burial ceremony of Nollywood actress Ini Edo’s father, Elder Edo Jonathan Ekim, in Akwa Ibom.
Ini Edo and her siblings honored their late father with a befitting funeral held at QIC Primary School, Awa Iman, Onna Local Government Area. The event attracted a host of prominent personalities and Nollywood stars.

In a condolence message, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his Deputy, Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, described the late Elder Ekim as a devoted Christian who lived a life of faith and love.

He acknowledged the deceased’s contributions to his community’s development and his dedication to raising God-fearing children who have positively impacted society.

“I extend our deepest condolences to you on the unfortunate transition of your beloved father, Late Elder Edo Ekim.

“Your late father was a devoted Christian who lived with godly virtues and instilled those values in his children and everyone who came in contact with him. We thank God that he lived long enough to see you and your siblings grow and make meaningful contributions to humanity,” the Governor said.

While praying for the repose of the deceased’s soul, the Governor urged the bereaved family to uphold his legacy and emulate his virtues.

“As painful as this moment may be for you, your family, and especially your mother, take solace in the scripture, which reminds us that the passing of a believer is the key that opens the vault of Heaven,” he added.
