Former Commissioner of Police in Lagos and Benue states, Fatai Owoseni, has resigned from his positions as Special Adviser on Security to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund.
In a resignation letter dated May 7, 2026, and addressed to the governor through the chief of staff, Owoseni announced his immediate resignation from both positions.
He expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve the state, noting that he remained available to assist with transition processes, including changes to account signatories and security-related advisory matters.
He also referenced his involvement in several security-related structures, including the Forum of National and Subnational Security Officials and the Oyo State Security Network, Amotekun, indicating that replacements might be required.
Although he did not disclose his next political move, reports suggested that his resignation may be linked to plans to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, with expectations that he will soon announce his new political platform.
