A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Funso Ayeni, has emerged as the African Democratic Congress candidate for the Ekiti North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.

While addressing the public, Ayeni said his ambition was driven by the need to address what he described as poor representation and neglect of communities within the district.

Speaking during a meeting with party supporters and stakeholders in the Oke-Ijebu area of Ikole Local Government Area, the ADC candidate pledged to provide effective representation and champion legislation that would improve the welfare of the people.

“The people of Ekiti North deserve quality representation. Many communities in the district have not received the attention they deserve, and I am determined to change that,” he said.

He also promised to prioritise youth empowerment and attract development projects to the senatorial district if elected into office.

Ayeni further assured residents of Ikole and neighbouring communities that his experience as an entrepreneur and philanthropist would help him deliver meaningful representation at the National Assembly.

“I have always been close to the grassroots and I understand the needs of the people. My mission is to serve sincerely and give the district a stronger voice,” he added.

The ADC candidate was received by a large crowd of supporters in Ikole, with party members and residents expressing optimism about his candidacy ahead of the polls.
