Ex-PDP gov aspirant, supporters join APC in Ondo

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, has defected to the All Progressives Congress with his supporters across the state.

Arebuwa, who contested the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2024 election, led the defectors into the APC at a ceremony held on Friday at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, the state capital.

The former aspirant said the decision followed his assessment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, adding that he and his supporters were prepared to work for the President’s re-election in 2027.

According to him, the group comprises supporters drawn from more than 3,000 political units and 203 wards spread across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

Arebuwa said his immediate priority was to deploy his political experience and resources towards supporting Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

He said, “We have left the PDP and want to join hands with others to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. We are ready to use all we have to support him.”

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the Ondo APC leadership, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, urged them to return to their respective wards and local government areas and mobilise support for the party.

Oke welcomed Arebuwa and the other defectors, saying “Your entry would add value to the APC’s activities in the state.”
