Ex-police affairs minister Adesiyan signifies interest in becoming next Alaafin

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan has signified interest in becoming the next Alaafin of Oyo.

Adesiyan made it known in a letter he wrote to the Head of Prince, Chief Baba Iyaji of Oyo, Mukaila Afonja.

The ex-minister in the letter, said as a great grandchild of Adesiyan, and descendant of Atiba, he was showing interest in becoming the next Alaafin.

According to him he would be bringing to the stool his wealth of experience in leadership gained over the years.

The Baba Iyaji had earlier in a chat with journalists, said that succession moves had started discreetly among interested princes.

According to him, the procedure was that interested princes from the next ruling house would submit their applications to him but he was yet to receive any.

The Alaafin stool became vacant following the demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III on April 22.
