*applauds cabinet members for ‘good job’ at valedictory meeting

Political appointees who served in Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s government have been directed to pick up, fill and submit their exit form.

The directive became effective since 1st of May, signaling the end of their services as either commissioners, senior special advisers, special advisers, assistant special advisers, board members, general managers of agencies and others.

The appointees, Westernpost gathered are, however, nursing the hope that they would be reappointed into the cabinet for the governor’s second term which starts 29th May.

WesternPost gathered that some of the appointees may be reappointed.

According to a source, the governor will pay the appointees off with N7million each.

The source said with that amount, the governor expressed the hope the appointees, who will not return, can start a new life outside the government.

It was also gathered that party loyalists, who worked for the governor’s second term re-election have been lobbying to be part of the next cabinet.

Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRazaq on Tuesday commended the cabinet members for their contributions to the success of the administration in the last four years.

Speaking at the council meeting, the governor said the cabinet members were instrumental to the success of the administration as well as the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 general election.

“We have done so well together, and I thank you all for your services to the state. This is the valedictory meeting of the cabinet but we are going to have some other (informal) meeting in the coming week to further show appreciation to one another.

“I thank you for your contributions to our achievements and your roles during the election,” the governor said.

Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Aliyu Kora Sabi, who spoke for his colleagues, thanked the governor and the people of the state for the opportunity given to them to serve at the cabinet level.

“We commend Your Excellency for your great leadership and forbearance. We really appreciate the opportunity to serve, and we are proud to have been part of the success stories of this administration,” he said.
