EXCLUSIVE: Tinubu set to declare state of emergency in Rivers amid political crisis

President Bola Tinubu is preparing to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State as political tensions between former Governor Nyesom Wike and incumbent Governor Simi Fubara escalate into violence.
Sources within Aso Rock confirmed to Peoples Gazette that the decision was finalized overnight and will be announced soon. A retired military chief, Ekwe Ibas, has reportedly been selected to oversee the state’s affairs once the emergency is declared.
The ongoing crisis stems from a prolonged power struggle between Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Fubara, whom he backed for governor but has since attempted to remove from office. The increasing violence and instability have prompted the federal government to consider drastic measures to restore order in the oil-rich state.
Presidential and state government officials have yet to comment on the matter.
