Face your music while we face politics, Faleke replies Davido
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, James Faleke, has responded to Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over allegations that he was pressuring the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to alter the outcome of the Osun State governorship election.
Davido had accused Faleke of pressuring INEC to change the election results and urged him to respect the wishes of Osun voters.
The singer who took to social media, specifically on X told Faleke to stop what he described as putting pressure on INEC and respect the wishes of Osun voters.
“Hon. James Faleke, stop putting pressure on INEC to change the Osun election result. Respect the wishes of Osun people. We don’t want Oyetola and AMBO,” Davido wrote.
In a post on X on Sunday, Faleke said he travelled to Osun State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while Davido supported the Accord Party, whose candidate was Ademola Adeleke, the singer’s uncle.
Faleke said his presence in Osun was solely to support his party’s candidate, adding that INEC could not be influenced by him or anyone else.
“I came to Osun to support my party’s candidate, while you supported your uncle’s party (Accord). INEC is a body that can’t be influenced by me or anyone else,” he said.
He also denied ever influencing or rigging an election, saying he had no intention of doing so.
“I have never influenced or rigged before and I don’t plan to start now. Face your music while we face our politics,” Faleke said.
Western Post reports that Adeleke polled 511,067 votes across the 30 local government areas, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, scored 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr Najeem Salaam, recorded 17,180 votes.
