Falconets set for Rwanda clash in U-20 World Cup qualifier

By Tosin Omojola –

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, will be aiming for goals when they face their Rwandan counterparts on Sunday in Kigali.

Both teams will take to the pitch later today in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

Ahead of the encounter, Falconets’ head coach, Moses Aduku, stated that his team is fully prepared and will go all out against Rwanda in the second-round, first-leg tie.

“We had the opportunity to watch the Rwandan girls in their first-round games against Zimbabwe, and we now have an idea of how they play. We will devise strategies to neutralize them and then go for victory,” Aduku said.

“We’re happy to be playing the first leg away, but at the end of the day, what matters is the effort put into every match, not necessarily the venue. I know the quality of players I have, and I have confidence in them.”

The Nigerian side will be aiming to secure a positive result in Kigali to make the return leg—scheduled to hold in Ibadan next week—a mere formality.

Sunday’s match at the Kigali-Pelé Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m. Rwanda time (2:00 p.m. Nigeria time).
