Family confirms death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo

The family of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has confirmed his death, disclosing that he died after a brief illness.

News of the actor’s death went viral on Tuesday evening following reports that he had been battling a kidney-related ailment, throwing the Nollywood industry into mourning as fans and well-wishers paid tributes to him on social media.

Confirming the development, the family took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to announce that he died at Evercare Hospital on Monday following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The family also revealed that the actor believed his testimony would one day be publicly shared, while noting that he battled his illness with “remarkable strength, unwavering faith and enduring hope” before his passing.

Ekubo’s family added that further details regarding funeral arrangements and other family matters would be communicated in due course.

The family expressed gratitude to everyone who showed love, support and prayers during the grieving period, describing it as a painful time.

They also appealed for privacy during the mourning period and requested prayers for the peaceful repose of the actor’s soul.
