Fani-Kayode gets Letter of Credence, sets to resume as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has announced that he has officially received his Letter of Credence, paving the way for him to assume office as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa.

Fani-Kayode disclosed that he received the diplomatic credentials after securing the required agrément from the South African government. The Letter of Credence, issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was presented to him by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

According to Fani-Kayode, he will now begin the process of relocating to Pretoria, where he is expected to formally present his Letter of Credence to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa before officially commencing his diplomatic duties.

In addition to South Africa, Fani-Kayode will also serve as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of Eswatini.

Expressing gratitude, the former minister thanked President Tinubu for entrusting him with the diplomatic assignment, describing it as an opportunity to serve Nigeria once again, nearly two decades after his appointment as Minister of Aviation.

“I thank God for the opportunity to serve my nation once again after being appointed as Minister of Aviation 20 years ago almost to the day,” he said, while also seeking the prayers and support of Nigerians as he prepares to take up the new role.
