Fayose joins 2023 presidential race, denies supporting Obi

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has declared his intention to contest for the 2023 presidential election.

He announced his presidential ambition in a statement released on Thursday titled ‘Fayose debunks endorsement’

He also debunked the news that he had thrown his weight behind the presidential aspiration of former Anambra governor Peter and asked that the presidency be zoned to the South East.

“May I also state clearly that I will be seeking the ticket of the PDP to contest the next presidential election,” Fayose said.

“No doubt, I have great respect for Peter Obi as a leader and I respect his aspiration, but at no point did I endorse his presidential ambition or that the presidency be zoned to Southeast.

“Rather, my take is that the presidency be zoned to the Southern part of Nigeria.”
