FEC approves enhanced exit benefits for retiring civil servants

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved an additional exit benefit package for retiring civil servants in treasury-funded ministries, departments, and agencies operating under the contributory pension scheme.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the announced on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists after the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, Idris said the new package will enable eligible retirees to receive benefits of up to 100 per cent of their total emoluments.

He said the directive is in accordance with Section 4(4)(a) of the Pension Reform Act.

Speaking further, the minister explained that the move is aimed at boosting efficiency and motivation within the civil service by strengthening the welfare framework for public servants approaching retirement.

“This initiative is designed to reward the years of service of our civil servants and ensure a more robust support system as they exit the public service,” Idris said.
