FEC approves N242.68bn for road rehabilitation, construction across Nigeria

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Tinubu, has approved N242.68 billion for the rehabilitation, rescoping, and construction of 14 major road projects across the country.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the approvals while briefing journalists after the FEC meeting in Abuja on Tuesday. He stated that the decision aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the reassessment and completion of inherited infrastructure projects.
The approved projects span multiple states, with contracts awarded to various construction firms. Some of the major allocations include:
- Agaie-Katcha-Baro Road (Niger State) – N22 billion (GR Building Construction Limited)
- Odukpani Junction (Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja Road, Cross River State) – N26.34 billion (Samatech)
- Abeokuta-Ajibo & Iyana Mosa Roads (Ogun State) – N10.89 billion (HM Construction Limited)
- Inoma-Iyaka-Abaji Section of Ibaji-Odulu-Ajibu Road (Anambra State) – N9.33 billion (NigerCat)
- Umuahia-Ituano-Ikot Ekpene Road (Abia State) – N14.37 billion (Heartland Reckon Construction Company)
- Kaduna-Jos Road (Phase One, Kaduna & Plateau States) – N33.42 billion (Setraco)
- Yola-Fufure Road (Adamawa State) – N11.81 billion (WisChina Worldwide Engineering Limited)
- Ijebu-Ibutita Ebe Road (Ogun State) – N13 billion (Aretha Construction Limited)
- Amido Road (Taraba State) – N7.68 billion (Messrs Mode Limited)
- Nkomoro-Isu Road (Enugu & Ebonyi States) – N14.49 billion (Arab Contractors)
- Aba-Owerri Road Dualization via Ikot Ekpene Border (Abia State) – N11.55 billion (Arab Contractors)
- Gashua-Bayamari Road (Section Two, Yobe State) – N9.68 billion (Messrs Wick Rock)
- Ikorodu-Shagamu Road (Phase One of Lagos-Ibadan Road, Lagos State) – N27.59 billion (Arab Contractors)
- Remaining Sections of Lagos-Ibadan Road – N30 billion (RCC)
The FEC also approved N7 billion for the rescoping of the AK Bypass, to be executed by Ghitto Construction Limited.
Minister Umahi emphasized the urgency of completing key projects by April to meet commissioning deadlines, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s road infrastructure.
However, he noted that approval for the proposed headquarters of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has been postponed for further review.
