By Damilola Akinwale –
Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has released the thriller for the highly anticipated sequel to his 2023 Netflix epic, Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors, ahead of its release on December 4.
Adebayo announced the development in a late-night teaser post on his social media pages on Friday, captioning it: “Even in his absence, his name remained a curse whispered behind closed doors. Some men are made by war. Others are the reason kingdoms learn to fear it”.
The filmmaker had earlier hinted at a new movie following the launch of his major film investment, Euphoria 360. He said the major “wow” reactions generated by Jagun Jagun among viewers would inspire the title of his next production, War of Warriors.
Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors is a sequel to Jagun Jagun: The Warrior, a 2023 Netflix original Yoruba epic produced by Femi Adebayo and Euphoria360 Media. The original film was directed by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami and starred Femi Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Faithia Balogun, Bukunmi Oluwasina, Ibrahim Yekini and Muyiwa Ademola.
The original film follows a young man determined to become a powerful warrior who embarks on a dangerous quest to join the army of a legendary warlord. He encounters the wrath of a maniacal warlord and the love of a fierce woman before accidentally discovering buried secrets and setting out on a path of revenge.
Following its release on Netflix, Jagun Jagun attracted international attention for its portrayal of Yoruba culture and themes of war. It won awards for Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa) and Best Costume Design at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
According to Netflix, the original production is an action drama set against the backdrop of war, royalty and traditional power struggles. The sequel continues Adebayo’s work in Yoruba-language filmmaking, known for its large-scale historical films, traditional settings and action-driven storytelling.
However, the full plot of Jagun Jagun 2: War of Warriors remains unknown as viewers anticipate its release on December 4.
