Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons, have welcomed 11 newly invited players as preparations continue for the second leg of their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying tie against Comoros.
The newcomers reportedly received a warm reception from established members of the squad following Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Comoros in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ogun State last Friday.
According to a message from the team’s media officer to journalists, the 11 players featured in a video in which they expressed excitement over their first invitations to the national team.
They also pledged to contribute positively to the squad and justify the confidence reposed in them as they begin their journey with the nine-time African champions.
The newly invited players are Favour Omenazu, a midfielder with MK Dons, England; Tumininu Adeshina, Sandra John and Valentina Uroko, defenders with Edo Queens and Rivers Queens; Joy Igbokwe, a midfielder with Nasarawa Amazons; and Farida Abdulwahab, a defender with Nasarawa Amazons.
Others are Christiana Uzoma, a goalkeeper with Edo Queens; Suliat Abideen, a midfielder with Fenerbahçe Ladies, Turkey; Fatimoh Solaty, a midfielder with Nasarawa Amazons; Shakirat Moshood, a forward with SCU Torreense, Portugal; and Blessing Okpe, a forward with Dnepr Mogilev, Belarus.
Their inclusion provides the technical crew with an opportunity to assess emerging talent from the domestic league and overseas clubs while strengthening competition for places in the squad.
The Super Falcons will face Comoros in the return leg on Tuesday, hoping to build on their first-leg advantage and advance in the African qualifying series for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
