FG aiming to modernize Nigeria’s broadcasting infrastructure – Minister

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated major investments in advanced technologies and state-of-the-art equipment for its media organizations, aiming to significantly enhance service delivery, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
Speaking at the ongoing National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Idris revealed that these efforts will include upgrading and replacing outdated infrastructure at federal radio and television stations. The move, he emphasized, aligns with the government’s vision of improving the country’s communication framework.
The Minister highlighted the importance of forging strategic partnerships with leading broadcast equipment manufacturers to not only modernize Nigeria’s media landscape but also provide local broadcasters with access to cutting-edge technologies and specialized industry training. These efforts are part of the government’s broader goal of strengthening the nation’s information dissemination capabilities to ensure effective communication of policies, especially those under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Strategic communication is essential to ensuring that the policies of the Renewed Hope Agenda reach the Nigerian people effectively,” Idris said during his discussions with key stakeholders in the global broadcasting sector.
At the NAB Show, which runs from April 5 to 9, 2025, Idris toured exhibitions showcasing critical broadcasting hardware and software, including broadcast antennas, transmitters, and studio equipment. These solutions are central to enhancing Nigeria’s broadcasting capabilities and modernizing its media infrastructure.

Among them were Thomas King, Chairman of KINTRONIC Laboratories, Enrico Vaccari, COO of Axel Technology SRL, Gianluca Baccalini, COO of SYES (System Engineering Solutions) SRL, Josh King, CEO of Kintronic Labs Inc., Khiran Keerodhur, COO of Thomson Broadcast, and Calvin Carter, COO of Continental Electronics. They pledged their readiness to work with Nigeria to strengthen the country’s broadcasting landscape and regulatory agencies.
