NNPC Chairman meets NSC to explore sports growth collaboration

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has expressed excitement over the potential collaboration between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited and the Sports Commission.

The DG made this statement after a productive strategic meeting held in his office, during which the newly appointed Chairman of NNPC Limited, Eng. Musa Kida, paid him a working visit on Tuesday.

He stated that it is an exciting time for Nigerian sports, and the meeting with the new NNPC Chairman, who is also the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), has further opened up promising opportunities to enhance the rapid growth of the country’s sports.

“We couldn’t be more proud in sports to have Eng. Musa Kida occupying this position. As someone deeply passionate about Nigerian sports, we are already discussing potential areas of collaboration between the country’s apex oil and gas institution and the NSC,” the DG said.

“Mr. President has given us a mandate to revamp Nigerian sports and build an ecosystem with a thriving and sustainable economy. I have no doubt that having Eng. Kida as the new NNPC Limited Chairman is another giant step toward achieving our objectives,” he added.

The new NNPC Chairman also shared the DG’s enthusiasm, emphasizing that the meeting aimed at ensuring sustainable sports growth under the Renewed Hope mandate of the current administration.

“As the President of the NBBF, I have witnessed the practical changes brought by the current leadership of the NSC under Mallam Shehu Dikko and Honourable Bukola Olopade.

“Basketball has greatly benefited from their support, and therefore, it’s very easy for NNPC to align with their efforts to get Nigerian sports back on track,” Eng. Kida stated.
