FG appeals for calm, assures youth of continued commitment

The federal government has called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to maintain faith in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its capacity to elevate Nigeria to a more desirable status.
This appeal was made by Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris on Tuesday, following a meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.
Minister Idris’s remarks come amid ongoing plans and calls from certain groups to stage protests against the government.
Addressing these concerns, the minister asserted that there is no need for protests, as the administration is actively implementing interventions and measures to tackle the country’s challenges.
He highlighted various initiatives, such as the provision of grains, and assured that these efforts will continue to benefit the populace.
“A lot is happening. Just today, the National Assembly expeditiously passed the bill on the national minimum wage. You can see how the President is working; it was transmitted only yesterday, and today it has been passed. Many other interventions that the President has put in place will also be addressed expeditiously in the interest of Nigerians, so there is no need for a strike,” Idris said.
“The young people should listen to the President and give him more time to deliver all the benefits he has promised.”
The Minister also pointed out other policies aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by Nigerians, including the federal government’s approval of grains and rice for state governments, which were delivered promptly.
He emphasized that with this being the first step, the government intends to continue in the same direction, ensuring that all interventions reach those who are in need. “It is crucial that this is communicated clearly,” he added.
