NPF clarifies redevelopment of Falomo Barracks, nationwide Police Housing Scheme
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has addressed recent misinformation regarding the redevelopment of Falomo Barracks in Lagos State and other police housing schemes nationwide.
According to a press release signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, there have been misleading claims suggesting the sale of Falomo Barracks land and the deteriorating conditions of police barracks.
In response, the NPF clarified that the initiative to redevelop several police barracks, including Falomo Barracks, stems from the critical state of these facilities. The police leadership added it has partnered with sub-national governments and reputable developers to transform these assets into modern, well-equipped barracks.
This redevelopment it noted, aims to provide improved living conditions and infrastructure for police personnel and their families.
“As part of this initiative, occupants of Falomo Barracks Blocks A and B have received a temporary relocation allowance of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) each. This payment has been disbursed to 347 families following a validation process to facilitate their temporary relocation.
“The redevelopment of Falomo Barracks is expected to be completed promptly, after which occupants will be offered new accommodation in the upgraded facilities,” the statement read.
The NPF emphasized that this project is not confined to Falomo Barracks alone, adding that similar redevelopment efforts will be extended to all police barracks nationwide over time.
While refuting claims that its barracks were being vacated for land sales, the NPF reiterated its dedication to addressing the welfare of its personnel through effective and strategic improvements to housing conditions.
