FG hands over Ahmadu Bello Stadium to Kaduna State Government

The National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Kaduna State Government on 26 February 2026 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the NSC headquarters in Abuja, formalising the transfer of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, to the state government for immediate rehabilitation.

The MoU was signed by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and Kaduna State Governor, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, following the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The redevelopment project is expected to transform the historic stadium into a modern sports facility with an expanded capacity of 32,000, positioning Kaduna as a major hub for elite sports and sports tourism.

Observers have said that the initiative aligns with the president’s vision to strengthen sports infrastructure nationwide and position sports as a key driver of economic growth and youth development.
