FG partners Big Win Philanthropy, ministries to strengthen Nigeria’s creative economy

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy (FMACTCE) has announced a landmark collaboration with Big Win Philanthropy and key government ministries aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s creative economy through data-driven governance and inter-agency synergy.

At an Inter-Ministerial Roundtable held recently in Abuja, stakeholders from the Ministries of Education, Youth Development, and other sectors joined the FMACTCE and Big Win Philanthropy to align efforts, enhance collaboration, and launch initiatives to grow the sector. A major highlight of the meeting was the development and unveiling of the D30 Data Platform and Mapping initiative, designed to provide a data-backed foundation for policy and project implementation in the creative space.

Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, reiterated her ministry’s commitment to revitalizing the sector through her 8-point agenda and 14 key initiatives, which include the Intellectual Property Monetization Framework, the Creative Economy Development Fund (CEDF), and the Creative Technology Innovation Centres (CTIC). She also noted ongoing efforts to secure $200 million funding from Afrexim Bank and partnerships with the French Treasury to establish creative hubs across the country.

“I commend Big Win for their collaborative efforts in building this platform, which will be instrumental in understanding and promoting sustainable growth in Nigeria’s creative industry,” Musawa said.

Ministers of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, also shared their ministries’ contributions to the initiative, including skill mapping, STEM education, and youth-centered programs.

The roundtable followed a weekend courtesy visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima by Big Win Philanthropy’s President, Jamie Cooper, and her team.

During the meeting, the Vice President was briefed on the Ministry’s progress and expressed the government’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Big Win to accelerate impact in the creative economy.

As part of the next phase, the Ministry will host a National Stakeholder Roundtable in May 2025 to further present its mapping initiative and engage wider industry actors for long-term growth.
