FG promises improved security in South-East to boost business growth

The Federal Government has pledged to enhance security measures in the South-East, emphasizing the importance of peace and safety for business growth and community prosperity.

During an operational visit to Enugu, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, assured residents and stakeholders of the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity in the region.

He engaged with security officers from the 82 Division/Joint Task Force South-East Operation Udo Ka, led by Major General H.T. Dada, and held discussions with traditional rulers, students, and community leaders.

“President Tinubu has directed me to collaborate with you all to find lasting solutions to insecurity. Without security, there can be no peace or development,” the Minister said, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of the South-East and its reliance on a secure environment for businesses to thrive.

The Minister outlined President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s achievements over the past year in combating insecurity, particularly in the South-East. He reaffirmed the government’s renewed focus on eradicating all forms of violence and instability.

Major General Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding the 82 Division, shared that Operation Udo Ka has implemented robust strategies to ensure a safe environment for the upcoming festive season.

“We aim to create a secure atmosphere that facilitates the usual mass return for Christmas,” he stated.

In addition, retired Major General John Nwoga addressed the harmful impact of misinformation and social media in spreading fear and panic. He called for collective efforts to counter the dissemination of fake news and outdated videos that incite tension.

Continuing his operational tour, the Minister visited Imo State, where he addressed troops at the FOB Okigwe, the 211 Quick Response Group of the Nigerian Air Force in Owerri, and the Naval Base in Oguta. He conveyed President Tinubu’s message of gratitude for their dedication and urged them to build on their successes.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Minister expressed appreciation for the governor’s support of the Nigerian Army and Operation Udo Ka. “All the officers and men appreciate your contributions,” he stated.

The Ministry of Defence reiterated its determination to foster a secure environment conducive to economic growth and community well-being in the South-East.

“We are committed to ending insecurity in Nigeria,” the Minister concluded.
