Fire guts Yinka Ayefele’s Fresh FM in Ibadan

Fresh 105.9 FM, a popular radio station owned by gospel musician Yinka Ayefele, was gutted by fire on Friday night in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred at the station’s head office in the Challenge area, was confirmed in a statement by Samson Akindele, Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited.
“We are sad to inform the general public that the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge, Ibadan, was razed by a devastating fire incident on August 15, 2025,” the statement read.
According to Akindele, the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and sister station Blast 98.3 FM were severely damaged, along with nearby offices including the newsroom, transmitter, and server rooms. Several pieces of broadcasting equipment were also destroyed.
He explained that attempts to control the blaze with in-house fire extinguishers before the arrival of firefighters were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the fire.
The cause of the incident is yet to be determined, and the full extent of the damage has not been assessed.
Akindele expressed gratitude to residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service for their swift assistance in battling the inferno.
