Fire razes spare parts market in Ibadan
Goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed by fire that erupted in the early hours of Saturday at the popular spare parts market at Agodi Gate, Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the fire started around midnight, continued to rage as firefighters and local residents worked tirelessly to control the flames.
This incident followed a recent tragedy in the city, where over 30 people lost their lives in a stampede at the Islamic High School, deepening the community’s sorrow.
Confirming the fire incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, Mr. Akinyemi Akinyinka, said there is an ongoing battle against the fire, urging water tanker owners to assist in the effort.
“The cause of the fire remains unknown, with investigations currently underway to determine its source.” he added.
