Flying Eagles conclude Santiago camp, head to Talca for FIFA U-20 World Cup

…as defender Marvelous Fredom ruled out
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles continued their build-up to the FIFA U-20 World Cup as they wrapped up their training camp on Wednesday evening with a session at the Cancha training pitch in Santiago, Chile.
Nineteen players trained under the watchful eyes of Coach Aliyu Zubairu and his assistants.
The session lasted for two hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time (9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Nigerian time).
The evening training session was the final activity of the 12-day training camp before the team embarked on a trip to Talca City, in the south of Chile, on Thursday morning.
In another development, central defender Marvelous Fredom has been ruled out of the tournament, as the Ikorodu City centre-back sustained a knee injury and won’t recover within the time frame of the competition.
Fredom received a rousing applause from his teammates and officials of the Flying Eagles as he was presented with a signed No. 20 jersey.
The player is expected to fly back to Nigeria on Thursday as the team moves to Talca from Santiago.
In response, head coach Aliyu Zubairu has drafted Wikki Tourists defender Haruna Aliyu as a replacement for Fredom. He is expected to arrive in Chile on Friday morning.
