FOLLOW UP: Ondo APC snubs court ruling, proceeds with congress

By Boye Oyeyemi

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its intention to go on with the state congress earlier scheduled for Tuesday despite the Federal High Court’s suspension.

The party disclosed it intentions on Monday when Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other top officials dismissed reports of crisis within the party.

While addressing claims of a court injunction to halt Tuesday’s congress, the APC South-West National Vice Chairman, Dr. Isaac Kekemeke, said the national secretariat had issued no directive and warned members not to be misled by social media.

He went further to reaffirm that the congress would proceed as planned.

In the same vein, the Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Comrade Ogonna Obiekwe, noted that the exercise would produce 36 working committee members to steer the party for the next four years, while also assuring party members of a transparent, free, and constitutional process

While making announcements on how activities at the congress will be carried out, Hon. Shittu Bamayi, the committee’s secretary, explained that accreditation of delegates would begin at 8 a.m. across all 18 councils, and would be conducted by voice vote under a consensus arrangement.

Party chieftains, including Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, and Princess Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, urged members of the party to support party officials and embrace the outcome for outstanding success ahead of the 2027 elections.
