Nigeria must not miss out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and Super Eagles coach Eric Sekou Chelle has been tasked with ensuring the country’s qualification.
This mandate was given to the former Malian national team coach by football stakeholders during a private dinner hosted in his honor by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The stakeholders included former Sports Minister Sunday Dare, NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko, NSC Director General Bukola Olopade, NFF Secretary General Sanusi Mohammed, ex-international Segun Odegbami, and NFF Head of International Competitions and Super Eagles Administrator, Dayo Enebi.
Other officials present at the dinner were Seyi Johnson, Kola Daniel, and Ahmed Kawu from the NSC.
Eric Chelle expressed his motivation to excel in his role as Super Eagles coach.
The Super Eagles are currently fifth in Group C of the World Cup qualifying series, with three points from four matches.
Next month, they will face Rwanda and Zimbabwe in must-win matches as Nigeria fights to revive its fading hopes of qualifying for the World Cup.
