For making insulting ‘POP’ remark, Portable prevented from performing in Ibadan

Following his insulting comments against Ibadan and it’s people, Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable, was unable to perform at the musical performance of Fuji artist Taye Currency due to safety concerns,

Portable had in a video that went viral last year, attacked the people of Ibadan, Oyo State, saying they lacked basic roofing supplies like Plaster-of-Paris, or POP, which he said was common in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. Many people, particularly in Oyo State, were offended by this remark and rushed to social media to voice their disapproval.

Despite his apology and announcement of his invitation to perform, many fans warned him not to attend the Taye Currency event.

Portable was noticeably absent during yesterday night’s performance.

According to investigations, he had reached Ibadan and was staying at a hotel close to the Palms Mall location, but security concerns prevented him from performing.
