Former Ekiti Speaker resigns from APC, cites academic pursuit

Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olugbeyega Aribisogan, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aribisogan, in a letter dated July 31, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of APC Ward 7, Ijesa Isu-Ekiti, in Ikole Local Government Area, said his decision was due to personal reasons and the need to focus on his ongoing Ph.D. research project.

“Due to my ongoing Ph.D. research project and other challenges, I have to prioritize my well-being and reduce those pressures,” he stated in the letter.

The former lawmaker explained that he could no longer remain in the party without compromising his principles, despite what he described as his best efforts.

Aribisogan, however, expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had within the party and acknowledged the support and experience gained during his membership.

Western Post reports that the former Speaker has not disclosed his next political move.
