The lawmaker representing Akoko South West/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Adegboyega Adefarati, has expressed optimism ahead of the All Progressives Congress primary election slated for Friday.

Adegboyega who is the son of former Ondo State Governor, Adebayo Adefarati, urged party members and supporters to maintain peace during and after the exercise, describing the contest as an internal affair that should not lead to hostility among members.

“We belong to the same party, and this is purely an internal affair. There is no reason for us to fight one another,” the federal lawmaker said.

He appealed to delegates and supporters to freely support candidates of their choice without intimidation or violence, insisting that politics should not divide members of the ruling party.

“Politics should not be about violence or hostility. Since we belong to the same party, there is no need for conflict among ourselves,” Adefarati stated.

The APC chieftain also expressed confidence in securing victory at the primary, saying he remained hopeful because of the support from constituents and his faith in God.

“By the grace of God, I am very confident and optimistic about tomorrow’s election. I strongly believe that with God on my side, victory is certain,” Adefarati added.

Highlighting his achievements in office, the lawmaker said he had facilitated employment opportunities, empowerment programmes, bursaries for students and several constituency projects, including water facilities and ambulances for emergency services.

“My final advice is that we are brothers and sisters in the same party. There is no need for violence. I have never supported violence in my life, and I appeal to everyone to conduct themselves peacefully,” he said in closing.
