Former Osun PDP leader attributes defection to Tinubu’s sterling performance

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Boluwaduro/Boripe Constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Salako, has said his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside hundreds of supporters, was motivated by President Bola Tinubu’s visible achievements in steering the nation.

Salako, who disclosed this during his defection in Otan-Aiyegbaju, said Tinubu’s efforts to transform Nigeria across socio-political and economic sectors convinced him to fully identify with the ruling party.

“People should forget about politics and give honour to whom it is due. President Tinubu has been performing wonders to keep the nation afloat in all ramifications,” he stated.

The ex-PDP leader urged Osun residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), stressing that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) remains the tool to enthrone an APC government in the 2026 governorship election.

He maintained that it would not be enough for party supporters to engage only in sloganeering without deeming it necessary to obtain their voters’ cards.

According to him, “It is absolutely necessary and compulsory for anyone who calls himself or herself a member of the APC to have a voter’s card with which to wage a non-violent electoral war during the elections.”

Salako added that, given current realities, it was beyond doubt that the APC would form the next government in Osun State, arguing that the PDP had become a shadow of itself, weakened by the defection of its key pillars to the APC.
