Osun farmers endorse Adeleke for second term, applaud agricultural strides

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Osun State chapter, has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid, praising his administration’s commitment to agricultural development and food security in the state.
AFAN representative David Ogunsade, represented by Toki Adekunle, announced the endorsement during the commissioning of the Farmers’ House and the free distribution of agricultural inputs to rice farmers in Osogbo. He said the decision was necessary in view of the governor’s support for farmers and the need to complete ongoing projects.
“For the first time that the Governor came here, seeing that the project which was started by former Governor Oyinlola was not yet completed, he promised that before he comes back again, he will ensure that the project is completed. Our Governor is a man of his word, that is why all of us gathered here,” Ogunsade said.
He added that Adeleke’s contributions to agricultural development inspired the endorsement, stressing that farmers want him to continue in office until 2030. He urged the governor to expand road construction in rural areas to make it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets.
Ogunsade also commended the administration for providing tractors, tools, and fertilizers, saying farmers across the state have benefited from such support.
Similarly, a rice farmers’ representative, Ayeni Mathew, lauded the governor for distributing inputs to support rice cultivation on over 1,000 hectares of farmland.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke said the commissioning of the Farmers’ House demonstrates his government’s commitment to food security. “The commissioning of this building for the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) is more than the opening of a structure but a statement of our government’s commitment to farmers and to food security,” he said. “Over 300 rice farmers will go home today with free paddy rice seeds to boost production in our state.”
Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Tola Faseru, explained that ten rice farmers were carefully selected from each local government, making up 300 beneficiaries across the state. He urged farmers to ensure continuity of the governor’s policies by voting him back into office in the 2026 governorship election.

Are they truly farmers, obviously no.
