FRSC deploys 1,500 officers to ease yuletide traffic in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 1,500 personnel to ensure smooth traffic flow across Ondo State during the yuletide season.

The Ondo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Dr Samuel Ibitoye, disclosed this on Monday while speaking with newsmen in Akure.

Ibitoye said the deployment comprised 700 regular marshals and 800 special marshals, with ambulances and tow vehicles positioned at strategic locations.

He explained that the officers were mandated to prevent gridlock, remove road obstructions and ensure free movement on major highways.

The sector commander added that rescue teams would operate round the clock, while mobile courts would sit to prosecute traffic offenders.

“Traditionally, every year the corps mobilises personnel and resources to ensure that there is smooth traffic flow during the yuletide period, and we have prepared and deployed our men.

“We are also collaborating with other agencies such as the police to ensure traffic flow at strategic places across the state, especially the axes of Akure, Owo/Ilesha and Ore, among others.

“We will be there to ensure travellers get to where they are going without any hiccups, so that we can all celebrate the festive period together in peace and enter the new year without any crash recorded.”

He urged motorists to exercise patience, avoid speeding and practise defensive driving throughout the festive period.
