FRSC seeks partnership with NFF for International Youth Day programme

Top officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FCT), led by newly appointed Commander Felix Theman, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday to propose a partnership for its upcoming Youth Hangout, commemorating the 2025 International Youth Day on August 12.
Theman and his delegation held strategic discussions with NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), on the objectives of the programme, which include road safety education for youths and improved traffic management within the FCT.
Theman emphasized that football has a unique power to inspire and unite Nigerian youths, and noted that many athletes have been victims of road accidents. This, he said, highlights the urgent need for increased awareness and preventive education.
He added that the proposed partnership with the NFF would not only promote safety but also provide youth with knowledge beyond the pitch. “With the support of the Nigeria Football Federation, we aim to safeguard our community further and sustain this upward trajectory,” he said.
Dr. Sanusi expressed appreciation for the FRSC’s outreach and described the partnership as timely. He affirmed the NFF’s commitment to using football’s reach to foster safe attitudes and responsible behaviour among young Nigerians.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to collaborate on awareness campaigns and sustainable youth-focused programmes aimed at reducing traffic accidents and promoting safety across communities.
Commander Theman was accompanied by Chief Road Commander S.E. Ekpenyong; Road Commanders J.O. Igbaroola and J.S. Ukashat; Deputy Road Commander A.H. Inuwa; and Assistant Road Commander C.C. Igbo.
Present on the NFF side were Dr. Ademola Olajire, Director of Media and Communications; Mallam Ali Abubakar, Head of Member Associations and Special Duties; and Mr. Rajan Zaka, Acting Director of Finance and Administration.
