Fulani, Yoruba leaders arrest four suspected thieves in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Leaders of the Fulani and Yoruba communities in Songo, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, have arrested four suspected thieves and handed them over to operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun.
Speaking on the development, Special Adviser on Hausa Community, Gonia Garuba, said he received a distress call around 3:00 a.m. about a robbery in the area.
“By about 6:00 a.m., four of the suspects were apprehended. We immediately contacted the Amotekun operatives and handed them over for proper prosecution,” he said.
Garuba added that some residents had tried to contact the police, but the community preferred working with Amotekun, describing the corps as a trusted security partner.
The suspects were identified as 25-year-old Ahmed Hassan, 30-year-old Danger, and two others whose names were withheld.
“We are happy Amotekun responded swiftly. We are working together to ensure the safety of lives and property in our community,” Garuba added.
It would be recalled that herders had previously clashed with residents and Amotekun operatives in the same area.
