A 300-level student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Johnson Akindutire, has emerged winner of the “FUTARIAN Entrepreneur of the Year” competition, receiving a cash prize of N1 million.

The event, themed “Certification Before Satisfaction”, was organized by FUTA alumnus, Pastor Titilayo Femi-Kings, on August 22, 2025.

Akindutire said he plans to purchase an industrial tapping machine and invest the remaining funds into producing Hollux Premium T-shirts, which he intends to launch next year.

He expressed gratitude to the organizers and FUTA management for the platform to showcase his business idea.

Convener of the programme, Pastor Femi-Kings of Christ Apostolic Church, Kingstream, told students who filled the 2,500-capacity auditorium that the initiative was designed to empower one student to become a millionaire while still in school.

He emphasized that “there is no satisfaction without certification,” urging students to pursue business opportunities alongside their academic work.

FUTA Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, represented by Engr. Adeyemi Bello, commended the convener and other alumni for giving back to their alma mater.

She congratulated the winners and encouraged them to use the funds wisely, while advising students to explore entrepreneurship as a pathway to becoming job creators rather than depending solely on white-collar employment.
