Galatasaray signs Osimhen in record €75m Turkish deal

By Tosin Omojola –

Turkish champions Galatasaray have officially completed the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Italian Serie A side Napoli for €75 million ($85.7 million), both clubs confirmed on Thursday.

The transfer makes the 26-year-old Nigeria international the most expensive incoming player in Turkish football history, smashing the previous record of €20 million set by Fenerbahçe for Youssef En-Nesyri in July 2024.

As part of the agreement, Napoli will receive 10 percent of any future profit from Osimhen’s next transfer, Galatasaray disclosed in a statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP).

Osimhen has signed a four-year deal with Galatasaray starting from the 2025–2026 season and will earn a net salary of €15 million annually. He will also receive €1 million in loyalty bonuses each season and €5 million in image rights payments.

The striker arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday night ahead of the announcement. Negotiations between both clubs had dragged on for weeks due to disagreements over payment terms but were finally resolved earlier this week.

Osimhen was absent when Napoli resumed pre-season training, signaling that a deal was imminent. He had been linked with an exit from Napoli since last year, with a previous move collapsing on the final day of the transfer window.

The Nigerian forward was instrumental in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A title win and spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 matches.

He finished as the top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig with 26 goals, helping Galatasaray secure their 25th league title.
