The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old school gateman, Josiah Ayomide, for allegedly defiling a four-year-old pupil in Ibadan.

The suspect was paraded on Thursday at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, alongside others arrested for various crimes, including theft, robbery, and kidnapping.

Police spokesperson, CSP Adewale Osifeso, said Ayomide was apprehended after the matter was reported to the authorities. He added that following investigations, the suspect confessed to the crime.

The police spokesman stated that the victim informed her mother about the incident, after which the case was promptly reported.

Osifeso confirmed that the matter is still under investigation and that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of inquiries.

In a separate operation, the police arrested two suspects, Azeez Kolawole and Isah Fatai, in the Soka-Sanyo area of Ibadan for allegedly stealing livestock using an unregistered Toyota Matrix vehicle.

He noted that the duo had previously been prosecuted for similar offences, while efforts are ongoing to track other members of their syndicate.
