Gbajabiamila applauds NASENI’s technological advancements

Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its remarkable strides in technological innovations and contributions to various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

During a familiarization visit to NASENI on Thursday, Gbajabiamila, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Senator Ibrahim Hadeija and Permanent Secretary of the State House, Engr. Olufunso Adebiyi, explored the agency’s latest developments.

The visit included a test drive of NASENI’s electric vehicle pick-up van and tours of the NASENI Hatch Box, Innovation Hub, and Solar Irrigation Pump. Gbajabiamila was also shown a range of new products, including a home solar system, prepaid meters, laptops, smartphones, and batteries.

This visit was part of ongoing engagements with government agencies under the supervision of the Presidency, aimed at understanding their mandates, activities, and challenges, as well as ensuring alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

After an inspection tour of NASENI’s complex in the Idu Industrial Area, Gbajabiamila expressed his satisfaction with the agency’s progress under the leadership of Executive Vice Chairman/CEO Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, who has been in office since September 2023.

“I am glad I embarked on this trip. I am glad we are all here to see for ourselves where NASENI is and what it is doing. The whole idea behind this trip was actually to come and hear firsthand, and to see onsite what you are doing, how you are doing it, what the challenges are, and so on,” Gbajabiamila said.

He continued, “I am very impressed with what we have seen and heard. The impacts of Mr. Halilu’s leadership have translated into numerous products in just 11 months, which speaks volumes about his commitment, dedication, and passion for his work. So, I commend you and the rest of the team.”

Gbajabiamila highlighted the significance of NASENI in the current technology-driven age, noting that the agency plays a crucial role in advancing President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to position Nigeria as a leader in science and technology.

“We have what it takes as a country, not just material resources but, more importantly, human resources—sharp, smart, young men and women in this country who can drive technological advancements. I thank you very much for what you are doing,” he added.

Earlier in the visit, Mr. Halilu briefed the Chief of Staff on NASENI’s recent innovations, interventions, and partnerships, which have been crucial in advancing technology transfer and aligning the agency’s mandate with the administration’s goals.

“Your Excellency, under your guidance and the leadership of President Tinubu, we have embarked on a transformative journey characterized by an accelerated push towards technological independence and industrial growth. It is through your endless support and that of your team that we have been able to make significant strides in achieving these goals,” Halilu stated.
