NADF signs MOU with Chinese firm to revolutionize Jigawa state agric sector

The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has partnered with the Jigawa State Government and China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. (CAMCE) in Beijing, China, to sign a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to revolutionize  the state’s agricultural sector.

This tripartite agreement aims to revolutionize Jigawa State’s agricultural sector by enhancing production, processing, and market access for key commodities, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and renewable energy.

At the core of this partnership is a shared commitment to improving lives and building a stronger future for Jigawa State and Nigeria. To achieve this, better seeds and modern irrigation systems will be introduced, along with practical training for farmers to cultivate high-demand crops like sesame, soybean, and hibiscus. Advanced tools for cleaning, drying, and processing these crops will also be implemented, enabling farmers to meet international standards and connect with local and global markets.

Executive Secretary of NADF, Mohammed Abu Ibrahim  welcomed this significant milestone, highlighting the Fund’s commitment to collaborating with subnationals to support President Tinubu’s Food Security Agenda. “This partnership signifies a shared vision for a thriving agricultural sector in Nigeria. By combining our resources and expertise, we can drive greater impact and ensure food security for generations to come.”

Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi emphasized the State’s reliance on CAMCE’s expertise and NADF’s support. “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to transforming agriculture in Jigawa State. By working together, we are creating a roadmap for sustainable agricultural practices, increased productivity, and enhanced economic opportunities for our farmers and communities.”

Under the agreement, NADF will guarantee and facilitate the financing aspect of the collaboration, paving the way for a brighter future for Jigawa State’s agricultural sector and contributing to Nigeria’s journey towards food self-sufficiency and economic prosperity.
