Ghanaian singer Sister Afia rallies behind Nana Akua-Addo amid marriage crisis

By Damilola Akinwale –
Ghanaian singer Sister Afia has publicly shown solidarity with Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua-Addo amid allegations of domestic violence, as Nana’s husband, Harold Norman, has denied the claims.
The allegations began circulating on Tuesday after viral videos emerged online showing Nana receiving treatment at a hospital with visible injuries, including a swollen lip and bruises underneath her eye. Blood was also seen on her clothes and on the floor, sparking concern among fans and social media users.
A separate video showed a man repeatedly slapping their daughter, dragging her across the floor and stamping on her. In one of the videos, Nana is heard crying out, “Kill my child for me. The same way you slap me is the same way you slap your daughter.” Both incidents have reportedly been linked to Harold.
Following the alleged incident, Sister Afia made a solidarity post on Facebook on Tuesday, expressing empathy with Nana. She said she personally related to the pain Nana was facing and disclosed that she had been through a similar experience. Nana later reposted a screenshot of the post on her Instagram page.
Nana had previously spoken about challenges in their relationship, alleging infidelity. She disclosed that the issue had affected their marriage but said they decided to remain together for the sake of their children after undergoing counselling.
In a contrasting development, Norman, through his legal representatives, maintained that the circulating videos were from 2022, when Nana had an accident and sustained injuries. In a statement dated October 6, 2026, FBA Law Consult, acting for Harold, described the circulation of the material as an attempt to influence public opinion and garner sympathy.
The lawyers also alleged that Nana had attempted to stab her husband on three occasions over accusations of infidelity. They accused her of becoming violent whenever she was angry, including allegedly destroying household items and causing injuries to members of the household. The firm said the matter is currently subject to criminal investigations by the Ghana Police Service’s Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).
However, the claims by both parties are yet to be independently verified, while the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident remain unclear. Harold and Nana formalised their relationship in a private civil ceremony in March 2022 after several years together, during which they had two daughters.
