Gombe State Executive Council has approved a budget of N43.130 billion for the development of new state-of-the-art facilities, including a governor’s residence, High Court, and House of Assembly complexes.
This decision was reached during the 37th SEC meeting chaired by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House.
According to sources, successive governors after former Governor Abubakar Hashidu vacated the residence in 2003, have opted not to reside in the official governor’s residence, prompting the need for a new one.
It also added that Governor Yahaya, for instance, resides in his private residence at the moment.
Commissioner for Works, Housing, and Transport, Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, disclosed that the allocated funds would cover the construction of an ultra-modern High Court complex at N14 billion, along with N14.23 billion and N14.9 billion for the House of Assembly Complex and the governor’s residence, respectively.
The approved budget also allocates N10 billion for road construction in four local government areas and for the establishment of the Gombe State Security, Traffic, and Environmental Corps (GOSTEC) office accommodations.
Contractors are expected to mobilize to the sites, with work set to commence promptly according to the Commissioner .
Additionally, N10.4 billion has been earmarked for the construction of 77 kilometers of roads in local government areas of the state, like Kwami, Funakaye Nafada and Yamaltu/Deba LGAs.
