The Osun State Family Planning Coordinator, Mrs. Abatan Ololade Margaret, has highlighted the crucial role of good health in women’s productivity and contributions to society.
She stated this while addressing women during a market sensitization program organized by the Osun State Ministry of Health and the State Primary Health Care Development Board, in collaboration with MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices, The Challenge Initiative, and ECWES, to commemorate the 2025 International Women’s Day.
The sensitization program, held at Igbona Market in Osogbo, featured the distribution of condoms to traders, buyers, and passersby.

The event, themed “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment,” aimed to educate women about their health rights, equality, and empowerment.
Abatan emphasized the importance of family planning in promoting women’s health and preventing unplanned pregnancies, encouraging women to visit public health facilities for quality family planning services.

She noted that good health is crucial for productivity and urged women to prioritize their well-being to contribute positively to their families and society.
Speaking on funding cuts from international partners like USAID, Abatan expressed concern over the impact on health resources and called for increased government support to adequately meet community needs.
Students from Fountain University, Osogbo, officials from the Ministry of Health, and implementation partners also participated in the program.
