Gospel singer Asu Ekiye announces end of 28-year marriage to spouse

Gospel singer Asu Ekiye, popularly known as the Prince of the Niger Delta, has announced the end of his 28-year marriage to Kunemofa Asu.

Ekiye made the announcement in a statement, saying the marriage had come to an end after years of what he described as a deeply personal journey of growth, experience and reflection.

The singer said he had chosen to announce the development with “grace, gratitude and dignity” while looking forward to what he described as a new season in his life.

“After 28 years of a deeply personal journey of growth, experience and reflection, I wish to announce, with a profound sense of sobriety and quiet resignation, that my marriage to Kunemofa Asu has come to an end,” he said.

Ekiye said the marriage actually ended a year ago but that he deliberately delayed making the announcement to allow time for perspective, clarity and acceptance of the transition.

He described the marriage as a significant and memorable chapter of his life, adding that some chapters eventually come to an end.

The gospel singer said he had decided to close the chapter with dignity and gratitude while looking ahead to the possibilities of a new phase.
