Gotan assumes duty as Commissioner of Police in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by CP Ibrahim Gotan, as the 28th Commissioner of Police in the state, following the recent retirement of CP Mohammed Umar Abba, psc.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.
Gotan, who hails from Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Sociology.
According to the statement, the new CP was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP) and has served both locally and internationally in various capacities across different states in the country.
He served in Borno State as Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police; as Unit Commander in Ogoniland at the height of the crisis; as 2i/c 4PMF Ibadan; and as Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in several divisions. He also served as 2i/c Operations in Taraba State and as Commander of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit (NFPU) in Liberia on two occasions due to his outstanding performance.
He has attended numerous professional courses both within and outside the country. A thoroughbred professional, CP Gotan has made a significant impact across core areas of policing, including Administration, Operations, and Investigations.
Outside policing, Gotan is passionate about football, travelling, and polo. He is happily married and blessed with children.
