Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of the multistorey Justice Saidu Kawu Courthouse in Ilorin, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work and the pace of the project.
The governor, accompanied by the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, said the project reflects his administration’s commitment to providing the judiciary with a modern and conducive working environment.
Speaking with journalists after the inspection, AbdulRazaq said the courthouse is designed to improve judicial infrastructure and ensure judges operate in facilities that match the importance of their constitutional responsibilities.
He said his administration is committed to raising the standard of public infrastructure, adding that judicial officers should not be expected to work in substandard offices and that the new courthouse would serve as a model for other states.
The governor also referenced ongoing investments in judicial infrastructure across the country, saying Kwara is determined to deliver a landmark edifice that combines quality architecture with a functional environment for the administration of justice.
Justice Adebara commended the governor for what he described as his consistent support for the judiciary, saying he was impressed by the progress recorded on the project and appreciative of the administration’s commitment to the justice sector.
He said the completion of the courthouse would bring courts currently scattered across Ilorin into a central location, improve coordination within the judiciary and create additional space to accommodate more judges.
The chief judge added that the project would strengthen the administration of justice in Kwara State by providing better facilities for judicial officers, court staff and court users, while thanking the governor for prioritising the welfare of the judiciary.
